From the heart of Cairo, a new scientific chapter begins as the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cairo University, hosts its 2025 Annual Congress under the inspiring theme: “One Voice, One Vision for a Cancer-Free Future.” Held from November 5–7, 2025 at the InterContinental CityStars Hotel, the congress brings together the brightest minds in oncology to discuss cutting-edge research, innovations, and clinical applications that could redefine the global fight against cancer.
Professor Mohamed Abdel-Moaty, Dean of the National Cancer Institute, emphasized that this year’s congress is not merely a scientific gathering but a national mission to bridge the gap between research and practice. Under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention, and Prof. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, President of Cairo University, the congress reflects Egypt’s unwavering commitment to scientific excellence and patient-centered care.
The 2025 NCI Congress carries the international slogan “Bridging Gaps in Oncology (BGO)”, embodying the vision to unify disciplines in the fight against cancer. Professor Abdel-Moaty announced strategic partnerships with the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO), the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), and the University of Oxford. Furthermore, this year’s event proudly hosts the Annual Diagnostic Radiology Congress, reinforcing the multidisciplinary spirit that has become the hallmark of the NCI’s scientific identity.
All sessions and workshops are accredited by the American Association of Continuing Medical Education (AACME), guaranteeing adherence to the highest standards of professional learning. “Such accreditation reflects Egypt’s global standing in medical education and its leadership in promoting continuous professional development,” said Prof. Abdel-Moaty. “We aim to ensure every participant leaves with tools to improve patient outcomes and implement innovative approaches to cancer care.”
Among the congress’s main goals is early detection and prevention, achieved through public awareness, genetic testing, and screening programs that reduce treatment burdens and improve survival rates. The congress will also spotlight the latest advances in molecular and biological diagnostics, transitioning from traditional detection methods to precision oncology, where each treatment plan is tailored to the patient’s genetic and molecular profile.
Cutting-edge therapies take center stage this year — from immunotherapies and targeted therapies to revolutionary CAR-T cell treatments for hematologic malignancies. The congress will also showcase innovations in radiation oncology, aiming to enhance efficacy while minimizing side effects. Moreover, discussions will highlight advances in clinical pharmacy, oncology nursing, and psycho-oncological support, underscoring the holistic nature of modern cancer care.
Specialized sessions will address integrative oncology care, focusing on supportive therapy, therapeutic nutrition, psychological well-being, and patient education. “Our approach to oncology is not limited to disease management,” Prof. Abdel-Moaty stated. “It’s about restoring dignity, improving quality of life, and empowering every patient through comprehensive, compassionate care.”
In the research domain, the NCI aims to establish collaborative research networks and a national cancer database to track patient outcomes and treatment responses. These efforts, according to Prof. Abdel-Moaty, “will allow Egypt to design evidence-based strategies and policies that truly reflect patient needs while strengthening ties with global research institutions.”
Looking ahead, the congress will outline a National Cancer Control Plan 2030, built on scientific evidence and powered by artificial intelligence and digital transformation. The plan also includes updates on expansion projects across NCI hospitals. As Prof. Abdel-Moaty concludes: “This congress is not just an event — it’s a declaration of hope, proving that through unity and science, we can build a future free from cancer.”
The NCI Annual Congress 2025 stands as a beacon of collaboration and innovation, reaffirming Egypt’s role as a leader in oncology education and research. With its unifying theme — “One Voice, One Vision for a Cancer-Free Future” — the congress sends a clear message to the world: hope begins with knowledge, and knowledge begins in Cairo.
