As part of Egypt’s national efforts to strengthen healthcare capacity and combat chronic diseases, the National Cancer Institute – Cairo University launched its annual conference for 2025 under the theme “One Voice… One Vision for a Future Without Cancer”, held from November 5 to 7, 2025 at InterContinental City Stars, Nasr City. The conference was held under the patronage of:
Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research
Prof. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din – Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention
Prof. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadeq – President of Cairo University
The event brought together leading oncologists, researchers, and healthcare experts to discuss the latest scientific advances in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
The conference welcomed wide participation from cancer specialists from Egypt and around the world. Scientific discussions emphasized the importance of early detection as a critical factor in reducing mortality and improving recovery rates. Sessions highlighted modern diagnostic approaches including artificial intelligence, genomic profiling, and advanced medical imaging that enable the identification of tumors in their earliest stages. Participants also called for expanding national screening initiatives and standardizing treatment protocols to ensure equitable access to high-quality cancer care.
The program also addressed major breakthroughs in immunotherapy and targeted therapy, which are transforming cancer treatment by selectively attacking cancer cells while minimizing harm to healthy tissue. Experts stressed the importance of integrating psychological and social support in treatment plans, acknowledging that cancer care must consider the emotional well-being of patients, not just the medical intervention. A holistic care approach was emphasized to enhance patient resilience and treatment outcomes.
Speakers highlighted that achieving a future without cancer requires coordinated collaboration among universities, research centers, hospitals, public health authorities, and civil society organizations. Public awareness campaigns must continue to focus on reducing preventable risk factors such as smoking, obesity, and unhealthy diet. The conference recommended further investment in medical training and research infrastructure to reinforce Egypt’s role as a regional leader in oncology research and treatment.
The conference “One Voice… One Vision for a Future Without Cancer” reaffirmed that defeating cancer is not an impossible aspiration but a realistic goal that can be achieved through science, cooperation, and sustained commitment. With continued progress, the hope for a healthier and more resilient future remains strong.
